All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ANDREW JACKSON SCOTT Andrew Jackson Scott, 78, retired farmer of the Hunterdale community, died at his home early Saturday morning, January 26, after a long illness. The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Nellie Rebecca Hunter Scott, and a son of the late William and Nancy Scott of the county. He was a member of the Union Congregational Christian Church. Besides his wife he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Janice Scott Panton of Newport News, Mrs. Nellie S. Mackinson of Norfolk, and Mrs. Margaret Joyner, Mrs. Mary S. Bridges and Mrs. Sarah S. Allen, all of Franklin; three sons, W. Hunter Scott and Vernon R. Scott of Franklin, and Edward Scott of Norfolk; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother, Calvin Scott of Franklin; and a sister, Mrs. Annie Drake, also of Franklin. Funeral services for Mr. Scott were conducted at 3:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon at Union Church by the pastor, Rev. Melvin Dollar. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Bernard Blythe, Edgar Blythe, Ruel T. Blythe, Leon Delk, Larry Overby, J.W. Pulley, Jr., Herman Smith and Edward Spivey. Honorary pallbearers were member of the Men’s Bible class of Union Church and friends of the family.
