Woodson Scott and Mrs. Sarah Councill Scott, died at her home "Oakdale" near Franklin July 25, after a lingering illness. Miss Scott was educated at Guilford College, the Farmville State Teacher College and the University of Virginia, teaching in private and public schools in Southampton and Nansemond counties for more than 25 years. She was descended from a long line of Quaker families, the faith of the Friends Church continuing from her paternal ancestor, Thomas Jordan, Jr., of Nansemond County, who became a Quaker in 1680, through eight successive generations. Miss Scott was an Elder in Bethel Meeting, a consistent Friend and generous neighbor in her community, a good woman of many fine traits of character. Her oldest brother, George G. Scott, prominent business man of Charlotte, N.C., and father of the famed motion picture actor, Randolph Scott, died four months ago. She is survived by two brothers, Robert L. Scott and James Hersey Scott of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Charles H. Hayes and Mrs. J.P. Bradshaw of Washington; five nephews, ten nieces and a wide circle of friends. Funeral services were conducted by her Pastor Rev. Jesse A.
