Mr. Scott, a Southampton County native, owned E.M. Scott General Contractors and had developed Scottswood, a subdivision in Franklin. He was a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ and a charter member of Hunterdale Ruritan Club. Survivors include his wife, Maud Raiford Scott; two daughters, Jean S. Marks of Franklin and Ann S. Perkins of Portage, Mich.; a son, E.M. Scott, Jr. of Suffolk; a sister, Annie S. Joyner of Franklin; and seven grandchildren. A graveside service was conducted Saturday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Walter Snowa. Memorial donations may be made to the church. Wright Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
