JAMES HERSEY SCOTT

   FRANKLIN - A funeral service for J. Hersey Scott is scheduled for Thursday 
at 2:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. James A. 
Coney.  Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

   Pallbearers are Rudolph Rogers, Morman White, Richard Cutchins, Donald 
Beale, Bobby Beale, R.J. Councill, Bob Bryan and Norman Lankford.

   Scott, 88, a retired farmer and rural mail carrier, died in Louise Obici 
Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, Monday night.

   He was a son of T. Woodson and Mrs. Sarah Councill* Scott.

   He was a graduate of Guilford College, N.C., and a member of Bethel Friends 
Meeting.

   Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Charles H. Hayes of Richmond; and nieces and 
nephews.
