JOSEPH LEONARD SCOTT

   FRANKLIN - Joseph Leonard Scott, 89, of Route 2, a retired farmer and 
lumberman, died Oct. 14, in a hospital.

   Mr. Scott, a native of Southampton County, was the widower of Lucy 
Johnson.  He was a Quaker.

   Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Scott Raiford of Franklin, three 
grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

   The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Poplar 
Spring Cemetery by the Rev. R.E. Brittle.

   Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
