Mr. Scott was a son of the late Tarlton Woodson and Sarah Councill Scott of Southampton County. He was for thirty years rural letter carrier and had retired from the service six years ago. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille Bradshaw Scott; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Beale and Mrs. Rudolph Rogers of Franklin; a brother, J. Hersey Scott of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. C.H. Hayes of Franklin and Mrs. J.P. Bradshaw of Takoma Park, Maryland; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral rites were conducted from the home at four o’clock Tuesday afternoon, July 29, by the Rev. James R. Stein. Interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery at Franklin. The active pallbearers were T. Hayes Holland, Hudson Lankford, Story Cutchin, Otto Harcum, Exum White, Robert J. Councill, Reggie Lankford, and Wesley Beale.
