JAMES ALLEN STEPHENSON

   James Allen Stephenson, 77, a resident of the Berlin-Ivor community, died 
Monday morning, September 29, at his home after several months of illness.

   A son of the late Levi and Elizabeth Holden Stephenson of this county, he 
was a member of the Millfield Baptist Church.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Worrell Stephenson of Wakefield, and 
two brothers, Dr. Hack Stephenson of Richmond and Ernest Stephenson of 
Wakefield.

   The body was taken to Millfield Baptist Church cemetery for graveside 
service Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, his pastor, Rev. Thomas N. Tombs, 
officiating.

Allen, divorced from 1st wife Ann Pearl STEPHENSON STEPHENSON (1869-1916) - 
   bu. with her paternal grandparents (Misc.Vol. I-27) - 
   obtained a marriage license in 1913 to wed Lucy L. WORRELL, 
   but the So.Co. records (MB15:237, q.v.) state the license was not used.
