She was the widow of the late Mills Everett Stephenson and the daughter of Alfred Turner Stephenson and Elizabeth Ann Summerell. She is survived by two sons, Percy Summerell Stephenson and Alfred Gordon Stephenson, both prominent citizens of Norfolk; one brother, C.T. Stephenson, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret D. Branch and Miss Lina Stephenson, all of the Unity community, besides a large family connection. Funeral services were held at the residence Thursday afternoon by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin, interment following in the family burying ground. The body bearers were: Victor and Hunter Branch, Claude Eaton, Bebe Townsend, F.C. Tilghman, A. Brooke Taylor, W.O. Mills' bro Charles is bd. in a STEPHENSON family cemetery on Millfield Rd. (MV-I-13). Their paternal grandparents are likely bd. in the Welborn STEPHENSON family cemetery, on Clayton Rd. (MV-I-56). Jr. Alice applied for a Confederate widow's pension in Mar 1925. Her husband Mills Everett Stephenson served as 1st Sgt. in Co. I, 24th Va. Cav., CSA. They married in Jun 1871 - the 21st according to her application, but the 18th by the Southampton Co. records (MB1A:454; M.Reg. p. 42 #42). Mills applied for a Confederate pension in 1918 and died Jan 1920.
