All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOHN BUCK STEPHENSON John (Buck) Stephenson, 86, a life-long resident of Southampton County, died in a Norfolk hospital on Friday night, May 13, after a long illness. The oldest member of Millfield Baptist Church, he was the husband of Mrs. Annie Williams Stephenson, who survives. Other survivors are three daughters, Mrs. W.C. Swain of Victoria, Mrs. V.R. Keeton of Roanoke, and Miss Emily Stephenson of Blackstone; five sons, Charles H. and Richard W. Stephenson, both of Victoria, Samuel B. and Roy Stephenson, both of Wakefield, and john b. Stephenson of Portsmouth; and 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Stephenson were conducted on Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by Revs. John L. White and J. Sidney Cobb, retired Baptist ministers. Burial was in the family cemetery near Wakefield. John Rollison of Courtland sang "Face to Face." Pallbearers were N.S. Boykins, Allen J. Faircloth, John T. Faircloth, Jr., Archie R. Gardner, Thomas Rose, B.G. Stephenson, Wayne Stephenson and R.F.
