CLARA GAY STEPHENSON

   IVOR - Mrs. Clara Gay Stephenson, 77, died early Wednesday morning 
in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

   She was the widow of John Henry Stephenson and the daughter of Mac 
and Martha Lowe Gay of Southampton County.

   Surviving are two sons, Wilroy and Elton Stephenson of Ivor; three 
grandchildren, June Carol Hammond, Larry and Kay Stephenson; one great 
grandchild, six sisters, Mrs. Molly Joyner of Ivor, Mrs. Allie Mumford 
of Sedley, Mrs. Odell Bradshaw of Charlottesville, Mrs. Iren Turner, 
Mrs. Otelia Saunders, and Mrs. Sarah Bradshaw, all of Franklin; one 
brother, Clyde Gay of Ivor.

   She was a member of the Corinth Friends Meeting and the Ladies Aid 
Society.

   Funeral services will be held from Corinth Friends Meeting Thursday 
at 4:00 p.m. by the Rev. James Coney.  Burial will be in the Rosemont 
Cemetery, Sedley.
