C. L. Gatling. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, with W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were John Bailey, Herbert Hancock, Lonnie Bradshaw, Charlie C. Baker, Paul Wellons, Eugene Howell, Warren Beale and Clarence Owens. Stephenson, 85, a native of Nansemond County, died in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Sunday afternoon. He was a farmer and member of Sedley Baptist Church and Sedley Woodman of the World Lodge. His parents were Monroe and Mrs. Ada Minter Pruden Stephenson. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lillie Bridger Stephenson, two sons, Paul Stephenson of Sedley and James C. Stephenson Jr. of Newport News; two daughters, Mrs. Bernice Eure of Suffolk and Mrs. Richard A. Moore of Richmond; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
