He was the husband of Mrs. Abbie Pope Stephenson and a son of Henry and Mrs. Betty Jones Stephenson. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was a retired farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War I. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lucille S. Brinkley of Capron, and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held in H.M. Purviance & Son Funeral Home, Boykins, Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. H.G. Walker of Clarksbury Methodist Church and the Rev. J.S. Peebles of Capron Methodist Church. Burial will be in Capron Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roland Baker, V.S. Pittman, Sr., Stuart Starke, Richard Banty, Woody Marks, Vernie Francis, Moncure Francis and Dr. J.J. Grizzard.
