Mrs. Stephenson had been an invalid for many years, being confined to her bed since January, but in spite of her afflictions she was one who always carried her burdens with a smile. To know her was to love her. She had been a member of Trinity Methodist Church since early childhood and in the absence of her Pastor, Rev. J.E. Brooks of Courtland, the funeral was conducted at her home here August 8 at 4:00 p.m. by Rev. J.R. Johnson of the Courtland Baptist Church, in the presence of a large concourse of friends and relatives who came to share in the last tribute of respect to one who was loved and honored by all who knew her. The profuse floral offerings attested the high esteem in which she was held. She leaves to mourn their loss five children; Mrs. C.B. Kello, Mrs. C.L. Davis, Mrs. F.H. Stephenson of Ivor, J.G. Stephenson of Norfolk and Edgar V. Stephenson. After the services the body was laid to rest in the home cemetery to await the resurrection of the just. "Her beautiful soul like a ray of light, Has gone to the realms above, Where never again comes sorrow or pain In that land of celestial love." Martha Olivia (VICK; Mrs. Richard M.)
