Harvey Stephenson of Sunbeam, died suddenly at her home, August 17, 1927. Mrs. Stephenson was about 47 years of age and was reared near Murfreesboro, N.C., living in North Carolina a number of years after her marriage, moving to the Sunbeam community about fourteen years ago. She is survived by her husband and five children, Julian H., Josephine D., Harry S., Robert W., and Gilbert F. Stephenson; by her father, J.T. Griffith of Murfreesboro, and the following brothers and sisters; P.B., S.L. and E.T. Griffith, Mrs. E.T. Stephenson, Mrs. W.C. Pettyjohn, Mrs. C.C. Pierce and one adopted brother, Lee Griffith, besides other relatives. Funeral services were conducted from the home on Thursday afternoon by Rev. L.C. Moore of the Methodist Church, in the absence of her Pastor, Dr. G.H. Oliver. Interment was made in a burial lot selected by her loved near their home. The body bearers were: J.T. Bryant, B.A. Porter, J.H. Hedgepeth, L.L. Bryant, W.E. Moore, W.T. Bowles, S.S. Bishop and K.R. Bishop. Misses Etta Mae Bowles, Josie Drake, Elizabeth Hedgepeth, Elsie Mae Bryant, Thelma Barrett, Mattie Barnes Maddrey, Clara Carter, Virginia Fiers, Bessie Porter and Lucy Bishop served as flower girls, carrying the flowers from the house to the burial plot, the floral offerings being numerous and beautiful. Mrs. Stephenson was a consistent member of Sunbeam Baptist Church, the members of which join with the family in grief over their mutual loss. She was capable and efficient, well-fitted for service which she gladly rendered whenever called upon, and will be sorely missed not only in her church, but in the whole community as well, for she was a kind helpful neighbor, ministering to the sick and suffering whenever opportunity offered. She was such a tender, loving mother to her devoted children and a helpmeet indeed to her broken- hearted husband. Their union was truly "two minds with but a single thought, two hearts that beat as one." For they lived and worked together for one another and their children, looking each to the other for counsel in the conduct of their of their household. Thus hand in hand they walked down life’s pathway together, a devoted happy couple until the Grim Reaper appeared but she was not afraid but ready, and with no time for a farewell, nor even a backward glance to her loved ones, placed her hands in His and journeyed to "The Home of the Soul." - "There she awaits the coming of her loved ones/ In that beautiful land,/ The far away home of the soul,/ Where no storms ever strand,/ While the years of Eternity roll." ****************************************************************************** IN MEMORIAM ŻŻŻŻŻŻ In loving memory of my dear mother, Nora Stephenson, who passed away 25 years ago, August 17, 1927. Her life is a beautiful memory, Her absence a silent grief; She sleeps in God's beautiful garden, In the sunshine of perfect peace.
