A native of Capron, he was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He was an inspector for the Virginia Department of Highways. Surviving are his parents, Jodie H. and Mrs. Addie Pope Stephenson of Capron, and a sister, Mrs. J.W. Brinkley of Capron. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Purviance Funeral Home in Boykins. The Rev. H.G. Thach, pastor of Boykins Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by the Rev. W.S. Ferguson of Emporia Methodist Church and the Rev. David Willis of Capron Methodist Church. Burial was in Capron Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Joe Whitby, R.S. Cobb, Joe Harris, Monty Frances, Buck Edwards, Reese Withers, J.P. Newsome, and J.
