He was the widower of Mrs. Mamie Cobb Stephenson of Franklin. A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of John W. and Martha Archer Stephenson. He was a member and former deacon of First Congregational Christian Church of Richmond. He was a member of Masonic Lodge of Strict Observance 207. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Warren and Mrs. Valley* Holland of Windsor, and a brother, J. Sidney Stephenson of Windsor. A funeral service was conducted in Holland Funeral Home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. J.A. Talley of First Congregational Christian Church of Richmond. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Pallbearers were J. Edward Moyler, Earl Holland, J. Lester Matteson, Tom Stephenson, Dr. Darden W. Jones, W.T. Pace, Jr., Paul G. Hart and Paul Warren.
