All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY JANE MURDEN STAKES Mrs. Mary Jane Stakes, 88, a well-known resident of Franklin and the Camptown community, died on Tuesday morning, January 11, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Reuben L. Gray, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Stakes was the daughter of the widow of Charles Stakes. She was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church, in which she had served faithfully for many years. The deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Reuben L. Gray of Franklin and Mrs. M.E. Gray of Norfolk; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services for Mrs. Stakes were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Franklin Baptist Church by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, a former pastor, followed by interment in the cemetery at Courtland. The pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. Mary Jane (MURDEN; Mrs. Charles H.)
