Maxey) last Tuesday afternoon, June 28, after an illness of about three or more weeks. Some two months or thereabout ago, Mr. Stone had an unusually severe spell of roseola, which left him in a weakened condition, but with his usual energy he resumed his work as surveyor and contracted malaria fever, which developed into typhoid, with the sad result above announced. "Mr. Stone was a native of New York State but moved South some eight or ten years ago, settling in this county and followed until this year agricultural pursuits. He was a quiet inoffensive citizen, a gentleman of intelligence, industry and probity and a communicant of the Episcopal Church here, of which he was once a vestryman. He leaves a stricken family, a devoted wife and three lovely children, towards whom go out the sympathies of our entire community. The funeral took place Wednesday evening from Emmanuel P.E. Church, Rev. W.W. Walker, Rector. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, his grave being marked by a small monument bearing the inscription, "Frank Elmer Stone, March 23, 1863 - June 28, 1898." Mr. Stone and his partner, a man named Fowler, bought the Dr. Lankford farm, which is now owned by J.L. Doughtie of Black Creek.
