All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HENRY STEINHARDT Mr. Henry Steinhardt, a highly respected and esteemed citizen of Nansemond county, died at his home Wednesday afternoon of this week after a lingering illness of cancer of the stomach. Mr. Steinhardt came to this country in 1882 from Germany and had lived a long and useful life in this community, being a honest and thrifty farmer, a good neighbor, a true Christian and a loyal American citizen. He was a consistent member of the a Holland Christian Church, the burial services being conducted Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock by his pastor, Rev. W. M. Jay, assisted by Rev. M.A. MacLean of Franklin. The interment was made in the family plot at his home, were a large company of friends had gathered to attest their friendship for their neighbor. He was twice married, first to Miss Lizzie Holland by whom there were two daughter, Mrs. Harvey Griffin of Capron and Mrs. R.S. Daughtrey of Nansemond county. His second wife was Miss Lizzie Rogers, who survives him with one son, Alex Steinhardt. He was a brother of George H. Steinhardt, and an uncle of Harry Steinhardt of our town. [Henry STEINHARDT, b.
