Born July 4, 1899, in Covington, Va., she was a daughter of the late Charles Robert and Ida Lee Lewis Karnes. Mrs. Steinhardt, who was educated at West Hampton College of the University of Richmond, taught elementary school in Covington for eight years and married George Carl Steinhardt on Oct. 26, 1926. He died Nov. 18, 1967. Mrs. Steinhardt was the oldest member of Franklin Baptist Church and had been a member for over 70 years. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Karnes Wright. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Roy DeBrand, Rev. Dr. Ira Hudgins and Rev. Sharon James officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High St., Franklin, VA 23851.
