Steinhardt, 73 years of age, died at Raiford Memorial Hospital the afternoon of December 22, after a brief illness. Mrs. Steinhardt was before her marriage, Miss Susie Johnson of Nansemond County, the daughter of the late James Timothy and Mrs. Nannie Parker Johnson and had lived for many years in Franklin where her husband, the late George H. Steinhardt, was a prominent and well-known merchant and citizen until his death in May, 1931. She is survived by a son, G. Carl Steinhardt of this town, and many relatives. Mrs. Steinhardt was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and its missionary organizations and of the Ellyson-Greene Circle of that church. Largely attended funeral services were held from her late residence in Second Avenue, Tuesday afternoon, December 24 at 4 o’clock, her pastor, the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, officiating. Burial was made in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being: Edward F. Gilliam, W.F. Syphrett, L.P. Simmons, J. Edgar Weede, J. Linwood Edwards, Joe Bynum Gay, Jr., Gardner T.
