Mr. Story was a native of Southampton County, a son of the late Allen Henry and Lacey Johnson [sic*] Story. He was a former employee of the sheet finishing department of Union Camp and had retired as a mechanic after 11 years with the Virginia Department of Transportation. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. He was a member of Forks of the River Hunt Club, and a founder and a former president of the Hansom Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Edna Johnson Story; three daughters, Loretta Surace and her husband, Phillip, of Courtland, Connie Williams and her husband, Jay, Sylvia Owens and her husband, Bo, all of Franklin; five grandchildren, Ken Barnes, Steven Barnes, Jayson Williams, J.T. Surace and Megan Owens. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Dr. M. Reginald Warren officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and suggests that memorials be made to Sycamore Baptist Church, 31120 Sycamore Church Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
