All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ LAWRENCE DARDEN STORY Lawrence Darden Story, 54, well known resident and farmer of Newsoms, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Thursday night, December 30, after suffering a heart attack on the Tuesday preceding. Mr. Story was the husband of Mrs. Mary Mustain Story of Newsoms, and son of the late Norman Lee and Lula Bryant Story of this county. He was a member of the Newsoms Methodist Church and of the Newsoms Masonic Lodge. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Williams of Courtland; two grandchildren, Diana McKinstry Williams and Michael Story Williams, both of Courtland; two brothers, Glennan Park Story of Portsmouth and James C. Story of Newsoms; and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Pledger and Mrs. Clarence D. O’Neal, both of Norfolk. Funeral services for Mr. Story were conducted on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Newsoms Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. O.L. Gochenour, assisted by Rev. L.F. Smith, pastor of the Newsoms Baptist Church and Rev. C.A. McCormick, Jr., pastor of the Courtland Methodist Church. Interment was in the Newsoms Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hersey Bradshaw, E. Beale Carter, E.J. Cogsdale, R.N. Darden, Jr., Roscoe Edwards, George Prince, Dillard Riddick and Lloyd Taylor.
