Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Rev. David S. Willis Jr. and the Rev. Dale Diggs. Burial was in Capron Cemetery. Starke died Monday morning in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton* County, he was the son of Joseph Thomas and Mrs. Betty Mae Avent Starke and the husband of Mrs. Ruth Johnson Starke. He had resided in Capron for 28 years and was employed by the J.T. Barham Co. He was a member of Capron Methodist Church, Capron Volunteer Fire Department and Army veteran of World War II. Besides his wife surviving are three sons, Stanley McGurie Starke, James Stuart Starke, and Wesley Johnson Starke, all of Capron; and seven brothers, Randolph B. Starke of Capron, Robert E. Starke of Waverly, Joseph T. Starke Jr. of Sedley, Clyde R. Starke of Richmond, Norman E. Starke of Jarratt, Garland T. Starke of Burrowsville and T. Earl Starke of Hopewell.
