Funeral 2:30 p.m. Monday Courtland Methodist Church, Courtland, burial there. Survivors include a son, E.W. Stortz of Richmond. ****************************************************************************** MARION BLANCHE PITTMAN STORTZ Mrs. Blanche Pittman Stortz, 86, died December 7 in South Boston Hospital, South Boston. She was a daughter of John and Josephine Pittman, who lived in the Courtland Community. She was married in December, 1900, to Frederick W. Stortz. They resided at Vicksville where he was a merchant and farmer until they moved to Crewe in 1923 where they remained until her husband’s death in 1933. From that date she made her home in South Boston. Funeral services were held at the Courtland Methodist Church Monday at 2:30 p.m. by her pastor, Rev. Lewis Darst, assisted by Rev. W. Frank Kale and Rev. Byron Hallstead. "The Old Rugged Cross" was sung by Rev. James A. Coney. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. E.W. Black Jr., of South Boston and Mrs. Russell W. Owen of Sedley; four sons, J.C. and R.R. Stortz of Richmond and L.M. Stortz of Philadelphia; a brother, Walter R. Pittman of Courtland; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were her nephews and grandsons, Elmo Pittman, Frederick Pittman, Tommie Pittman, Bill Cash, Bobby Stortz, Freddie Black and Edwin Black, III. Marion Blanche (PITTMAN; Mrs. Frederick W.)
