SEAL Mrs. C.C. Seal an esteemed Franklin woman, died January 15 in the Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, after a two weeks illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Seal, who was 56 years of age, had been visiting her daughter, Mrs. C.E. Thomas, in Washington for about a month, the news of her death being quite unexpected to relatives and friends in Franklin. Mrs. India Holland Seal was a native of Nansemond County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas Holland of the South Quay community, and had been a resident of this town the greater part of her life. About 40 years ago she was married to C.C. Seal, Mr. Seal dying here August 12, 1932. She was a member of the Baptist Church, a consistent Christian, a good neighbor and a woman of many fine traits of character. She is survived by three sons, John Thomas Seal of Richmond, Charles V. Seal of Brooklyn, N.Y. and James L. Seal of Littleton, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. C.E. Thomas of Washington; by nine grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Penelope Holland of Franklin and Mrs. J.L. Griffin of Holland; a brother, Jason P. Holland of Holland, and many relatives and friends. The body was brought to Franklin to the home in North High Street where Mrs. Seal had been living with her sister, Miss Penelope Holland, for several months and funeral services will be conducted from the residence this (Friday) afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery here, and the active pallbearers will be: E.P. Jones, Harry Steinhardt, W.O. Bristow, Franklin Edwards, Geo. H. Parker, Lloyd A. Darden, L.B. Norfleet, and C. Spencer of Norfolk. Honorary bearers have been selected from a number of friends of the family. India M.
