MOLLIE IVEY SLEDGE

   Mrs. Mollie Ivey Sledge, widow of the late Sterling S. Sledge, died 
Thursday, April 4, at her home in the Adams Grove community.  Mrs. Sledge 
had been in declining health for several months, but was ill only a short 
time.  She is survived by three sons, James, Henry and David Sledge; two 
daughters, Mrs. Elmer Williams and Miss Ivey Sledge; two grandchildren, 
Bettie and Joyce William and a brother, J.H. Ivey.

   Mrs. Sledge was a kind neighbor, a devoted mother and a loyal member 
of the Adams Grove Baptist Church.  Her passing will be lamented by a host 
of friends.

   Funeral services were conducted at the grave Friday by her pastor, Rev. 
A.W. Coates.  The choir from Adams Grove sang "Abide With Me" and "What a 
Friend We Have in Jesus."  Her body was laid to rest by her husband, 
beneath a mound of flowers, in the family plot on the G.O. Sledge farm.

   Pallbearers were Gordon Grizzard, Alvin Lewis, J.W. Fox, George Turner, 
E.A. Barham and Gilbert Turner.  Honorary pallbearers were member of the 
Junior Class of the Drewryville High School, of which David, the youngest 
child, is a member.
