All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM BURLEIGH SIMPSON William Burleigh Simpson, 74, well known and prominent resident of Franklin since 1912 died unexpectedly Tuesday about noon at Raiford Memorial Hospital ------- many years. Mr. Simpson was a retired employee of Camp Manufacturing Co., retiring at the age of 65 years. He was the son of the late William Charles and Sarah Francis Kelley Simpson of Whaleyville, and a member of Franklin High Street Methodist Church. He was twice married, first to Miss Ima Hayes of Whaleyville who preceded him in death in 1942. His second marriage was to Miss Clara Gilliam of Franklin. To the first marriage was born one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth M. Pillow of Franklin. Besides his wife and daughter he leaves three brothers, Charles M., Frank O., and Harvey S. Simpson all of Norfolk, two sisters, Mrs. L.D. Edmonds of Norfolk and Mrs. C.W. Harrell of Suffolk, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were handled by W.J.M. Holland and Sons of Franklin and graveside services were scheduled today at 4 pm. at Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. James W. Turner officiating. Pallbearers were Robert O. Hayes, Bryan Hayes, Conway Holland, Owen Parker, Willie Weede, Gardner T. Edwards, V.K. Daughtrey, H.S. Rollins.
