All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CLAIRE GILLIAM SIMPSON FRANKLIN - Mrs. Claire Gilliam Simpson, 72, retired public school teacher, died Thursday morning in Raiford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. "Miss Claire," as she was affectionately called by the school children, had taught school in Franklin 30 years.. She was the widow of William Burleigh Simpson and a daughter of John E. and Mrs. Nettie Harris Gilliam of Franklin. She was a member of Franklin High Street Methodist Church. Surviving are a brother, Edward F. Gilliam of Franklin, and a niece, Mrs. Harold Schiro of Cincinnati, Ohio. A funeral service was held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Poplar Spring Cemetery by her pastor, the Rev. Gilliam C. Bentley of High Street Methodist Church. Pallbearers were G. Carl Steinhardt, W.M. Weede, Hubert S. Rawlings, George R. Brown, W.T. Pace, Jr., Joe B. Gay, III, Jesse A. Weede, Jr., and R. Ellsworth Jones. Claire Everett (GILLIAM; Mrs. William B.)
