All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ IMA HAYES SIMPSON Mrs. Ima Hayes Simpson, a resident of Franklin for many years, died at the age of 51 at her home on Second Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Her death came as the climax to a protracted illness. Mrs. Simpson was a member of High Street Methodist Church, where she served faithfully until ill health prevented. She was the wife of William Burleigh Simpson, and daughter of the late Lenora Skinner and Robert B. Hayes, of Whaleyville. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth M. Pillow of Franklin; four sisters, Miss Annie Laura Hayes of Norfolk, Mrs. A.D. Milteer of Gary, Ind., Mrs. V.C. Johnson of Bluefield, W.Va., and Mrs. P.O. Parker of Whaleyville; three brothers, Bryan O. Hayes of Norfolk, Robert O. Hayes of Franklin, and Garland Hayes of Mitchell Field, N.Y., and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 4 o’clock at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. J.S. Maxey and the Rev. B.B. Bland of High St. Methodist Church, her pastor. Brief rites will be held and pallbearers are H.S. Simpson, C.N. Simpson, F.O. Simpson and Bryant O. Hayes of Norfolk; V.C. Johnson of Bluefield, W. Va. and R.O. Hayes of Franklin.
