Smith George W. Smith, 81, well known retired farmer of Southampton County, died Tuesday suddenly after a heart attack at Norfolk General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Laura Stevens Smith, and the son of Zack and Mrs. Mollie Smith of Southampton County. Surviving are two sons, David S. Smith of Emporia and Joseph A. Smith of Seaboard, N. C., two daughters, Mrs. Estelle Dunn of Burlington, N. C. and Mrs. C. E. Gillette of Norfolk; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted today (Thursday) at 3 p.m. at the Holland Funeral Chapel by Rev. Ben Ussery, pastor of the Boykins Baptist Church. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
