He was the husband of Mrs. Wilfred Pryor Smith, 601 Hill Street, and the son of William Henry and Lou Lizza Buck Smith of Pitt County, N.C. Surviving beside his wife are three sons; Robert D. Smith, Handsom, Irby A. Smith, U.S. Air Force, Langley Field, Hampton and Leonard O. Smith, U.S. Marine Corps, Quantico; three daughters; Mrs. Viola M. Ivey, Suffolk, Mrs. Madelene Bradshaw and Miss Elmore E. Smith, both of Franklin; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Eula Worthington and Mrs. Rosa Smith, both of Ayden, N.C., and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Holland Funeral Chapel Friday at 4:30 p.m. by the Rev. Dorsie Phillips, pastor of the Church of God. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
