SMITH CAPRON - April 19 - Mrs. George Blackwell Smith, 75, died Monday at her home here. The funeral service will be held at the home at 2 P.M. Tuesday, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. A daughter of the late E. William [sic*] and Mrs. Mary Taylor Williams, of Gates County, N.C., Mrs. Smith is survived by five sons, G.B. and C.U. Smith, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Philip C. Smith, of Pittsburgh; Peyton W. Smith of Capron, and J. Spottswood Smith, of Delano, Tenn.; four daughters, Mrs. J.M. Hodges, of Norfolk; Mrs. Weston Bruner, Jr., of Washington; Mrs. J.B. Johnson, of Franklin, and Miss Elizabeth Lee Smith, of Capron, and 12 grandchildren. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Smith's Funeral in Capron [Funeral services for Mrs.] George Blackwell Smith, 75, who died Tuesday morning at 12:15 o'clock in Capron after a long illness, were to be conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence by the pastor of the Capron Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Dr. Elisha and Mrs. Mary Taylor Williams and the widow of the late George B. Smith, formerly of Suffolk. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mason Hodges of Norfolk; Mrs. Weston Bruner of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Burnett Johnson of Franklin and Miss Elizabeth Lee Smith of Capron; five sons, George B. Smith, Jr., of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Calvin Smith, of Knoxville, Tenn.; Phil C. Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Peyton Smith and Spotswod Smith of Capron; several nieces and nephews of Suffolk. The body will be brought to Suffolk this afternoon where interment will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery at 4 o'clock. ****************************************************************************** MRS. GEORGE BLACKWELL SMITH The numerous friends and acquaintances in Southside Virginia of Mrs. George Blackwell Smith will regret to learn of her death at the residence in Capron on Monday morning, April 19. Mrs. Smith, who was 75 years of age at the time of her death, had suffered for many years with arthritis. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Elisha and Mrs. Mary Taylor Williams, and the widow of the late George B. Smith. The deceased is survived by four daughters, Mrs. J. Mason Hodges of Norfolk, Mrs. Weston Bruner of Washington, D.C., Mrs. J. Burnett Johnson of Franklin, and Miss Lizzie Lee Smith of Capron; five sons, George B. Smith, Jr., of Chattanooga, Tenn., Calvin U. Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., Philip C. Smith of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Peyton W. Smith and Spottswood Smith of Capron; several grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were conducted from the residence on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, followed by interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, at four o'clock.
