MILDRED VICK SMITH

   Mrs. Mildred Vick Smith, 39, a former resident of Southampton County, died 
early Tuesday at her home in Tampa, Fla., after a lingering illness.  She was 
the wife of Howard C. Smith, and the daughter of Joe Vick of Courtland, and 
the late Mrs. Ellis Justice Vick, of Logan, W.Va.

   Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Bobby Smith, of Tampa; two 
brothers, Jack and Jimmie Vick, of Courtland; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy 
Barton, of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Louella Tisdale, of Richmond, and Mrs. 
Catherine Everett, of Joyner.  The body will arrive Thursday morning in 
Franklin, and will be taken to the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, where 
it will lie in state until the funeral hour.  Funeral services will be held 
Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Old Ellsworth Burial Cemetery*, near Joyner.
