Daniel K. Ivey. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, with McDowell Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were W.A. Cook, George Prince, W.T. Bryant, Leroy Griffin, Wilmer Lee and J.C. Long, Jr. Mrs. Smith, 56, died Wednesday in her home after a brief illness. A native of Southampton county, she was the wife of Vernie Smith and daughter of the late Norfleet E. and Mrs. Fannie Pope Griffin. Besides her husband, surviving are three foster sons, Paul P. Outland of Portsmouth and Rene Outland and John E. Outland of Capron; two sisters, Miss Carrie Lee Griffin Richmond and Mrs. Cleo G. Edwards of Boykins; and brother, Frank R. Griffin Boykins.
