SMITH FRANKLIN - Mrs. Virginia Hedgepeth Smith, 85, died Sunday morning in a Richmond hospital. A native of Isle of Wight County, she lived here most of her life. She was the wife of Eugene C. Smith and a daughter of John and Mrs. Charlotte Holland Hedgepeth. She was a member of High Street Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Mrs. George W. Goodwin Jr. of Franklin, Mrs. E.S. Sheppe Jr. of Richmond and Mrs. E.M. Babb of Ivor; four sons, W.H. Smith of Arlington, E.C. Smith Jr. and Gordon L. Smith of Richmond and Bernard W. Smith of Sedley; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p m. Tuesday in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, by the Rev. Robert D. Fridley of High Street Methodist Church. The body will be taken to the cemetery from W.J.M.
