Smith, and youngest daughter of the late William G. and Missouri Maddrey White, departed this life Tuesday, February 22, 1944, after a lengthy illness. Her life had been spent in and near Boykins, having been born on the old White homestead in Southampton County and moving to Boykins in her early girlhood. She was educated at Boykins High School and attended Chowan College, Murfreesboro, N.C. and Harrisonburg Teachers’ College, Harrisonburg. At an early age she united with the Boykins Baptist Church, to which she has been a loyal member ever since. She was a charter member of the Fidelis class and Sunday school and she gave of her time, talents and material wealth to further its business and influence among the young women of the town and community. A member of the choir, she was always faithful, never too busy to take time to practice for its needs. As a young woman, she married Fred Drewry, son of the late Dr. John Drewry and Mrs. Bettie Drewry of Portsmouth. Mr. Drewry was killed in an accident on the S.A.L. Railroad about 12 years ago. Two years ago she married Hinton T. Smith, cashier of Meherrin Valley Bank of Boykins. She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. W.B. Brand, one niece and one nephew, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. Her funeral was conducted from the Boykins Baptist Church on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 by her pastor, Dr. R.A. Helton, assisted by Rev. L.F. Callaham, pastor of the Boykins Methodist Church. Members of the Fidelis Class acted as honorary pallbearers and the many floral offerings attested to her popularity. Active pallbearers were: W.W. White, Jr., Dr. J.M. Bland, H.M. Drewry, J.M. Hill and J.M. Britt of Boykins; R.J. White of Conway, N.C., Howard Barnes and Royale Watson of Severn, N.C. Interment was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. [Willye (WHITE DREWRY; Mrs. Hinton T.) SMITH, of Boykins, d. 22 Feb 1944, interred in Beechwood Cemetery (Annex 1, Sect.
