Smith was conducted Saturday at 4 p.m. in McDowell Funeral Home by the Rev. Ben B. Ussery. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were R.C. Smith, Jr., Trent Fox, R.B. Fox Jr., Paul Camp Marks, Robert Marks, Bernard Gillette, John Edward Fox and V.S. Pittman, Jr. Smith, 62, died Friday morning in a Richmond hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of William T. and Mrs. Delia Fox Smith and the husband of Mrs. Jane Abbitt Smith. He was a member of Boykins Baptist Church and a retired insurance agency manager. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, William H. Smith of Boykins; a brother, Hinton T. Smith of Boykins; and two sisters, Miss Clarice B. Smith of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Mrs. Doris Bailey of Portsmouth.
