LITITIA CHRISTIAN SHANDS

   Lititia Christian Shands, daughter of the late William and Annie Ridley 
Shands, died November 3, 1985.  Born August 19, 1898, she taught for years 
in the Petersburg school system.  She was a lifelong member of St. Luke's 
Protestant Episcopal Church, Courtland, Va. and a member of Southampton 
Historical Society and Museum of Fine Arts.  She is survived by a sister, 
Bessie T. Shands of the home; a brother, William R. Shands of Richmond; a 
nephew, niece, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Graveside funeral service 
will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, in Riverside Cemetery, by the Rev. 
James W. Browder III.  Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
