She was a lifelong resident of Southampton County, and a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church, Como, N.C. She was widow of Samuel Tilden Saunders of Isle of Wight County, and a daughter of the late Richard Tilmon and Devilla Edith Beale Barnes, of Southampton County. She is survived by two sisters, Miss Devilla Emily Barnes of Newsoms, and Mrs. Fee Barnes, of Bonnerville, Fla. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. E.E. Ballard, pastor of Buckhorn Baptist church, the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Beale, Eppa Prince, Paul Majette, Rosser Bryant, Kemper Daughtrey, Ben Bryant, Neal Seegars and Cyrus Howell. Lydia Christie (BARNES; Mrs. Samuel T.)
