Bell, in Dendron after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Briggs of Southampton County and was prominently connected in the two counties. She was the widow of the late Alonza M. Simmons of Sussex County. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Emmett Johnson of Littleton, Mrs. Bina Parker of Stony Creek and Mrs. B.T. Bell of Dendron; one son, W.B. Simmons of Norfolk, a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, W.T. Pace of Franklin being one of her nephews. Funeral services were held at the grave in Sebrell cemetery Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
