Mrs. Simmons, a native of Southampton County, was the widow of Samuel Moncure Simmons. She was a member of Boykins Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Lucille S. Jenkins and Christine S. Vick, both of Courtland; a son, Samuel H. Simmons of Emporia; a brother, Willie E. Dunlow of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Friday in McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Rev. Weldon B. White. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Memorial donations may be made to Courtland Rescue Squad.
