MALCOLM DAVIS SIMMONS

   Courtland - A graveside funeral service for Malcolm Davis Simmons was 
conducted in Riverside Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. R.A. Bergdoll. 
W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home was in charge.

   Pallbearers were S.V. Camp Jr., Edward Cobb, Dick, Clements, James Gillette 
Jr., Willie Whitehead, Julian Tillery, Pete Barham and Stuart Jenkins.

   Malcolm Davis Simmons, 49, died Wednesday in Southampton Memorial Hospital, 
Franklin, after a long illness.

   He was the husband of Mrs. Jessie Davis Simmons and a son of Joseph S. and 
Mrs. Nettie Davis Simmons.

   A native of Southampton county, he was a member of Sebrell Methodist Church 
and a past superintendent of the its Sunday school and a past president of 
Sebrell Ruritan Club.

   He was a Army veteran of World War II.

   Besides his widow and parents, surviving are a son, Billy Brian Simmons, and 
a daughter, Jeri Dee Simmons, both of Courtland; and two brothers, J.P. Simmons 
of Courtland and W.S. Simmons of Franklin.

   W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home has provided a complete list of 
survivors for the Malcolm D. Simmons funeral.

   Surviving are his widow,  Mrs. Jessie Davis Simmons; a son Billy Brian 
Simmons, and a daughter, Jeri Dee Simmons, both of Courtland; a sister Mrs. 
Robert Brooks, Carson City, Mich. and two brothers, J.P. Simmons of Courtland 
and W.S. Simmons of Franklin.
