All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROBERT AUGUSTUS SIMMONS Robert Augustus Simmons, 64, a well-known farmer of the Courtland community, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Wednesday night, June 21, after a short illness. Known by his friends as "Mr. Bob," he was the son of the late John W. and Damsel Smith Simmons of this county. He was a member of the Courtland Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Missie Francis Simmons of Courtland; three daughters, Miss Hattie Simmons and Mrs. Helen Davis, both of Courtland, and Mrs. Bernice Gillette of Capron; three sons, Robert B. Simmons of Walters and James Kilby Simmons and Francis Augustus Simmons of Courtland; three grandchildren; three brothers, Rev. J.W. Simmons of Dixie, Mathews County, T.O. Simmons of Jarratt, and H.J. Simmons of Disputanta; four sisters, Mrs. W.T. Seal of Disputanta, Mrs. B.B. Williams of Smithfield, Mrs. E.P. Ellis of Waverly, and Mrs. George Jackson of Hooks, Tex.; and a number of nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held from the late residence this (Friday) afternoon at 3 o'clock, with Rev. O.L. Gilliam officiating. Interment will be in the Courtland cemetery. ****************************************************************************** ROBERT AUGUSTUS SIMMONS ROBT. A.
