Daniel Ivey of Clarksbury Methodist Church and the Rev. Ben B. Ussery. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Felts, Tatty Felts, Wilson W. Barnes, Gilbert Francis, Elmo Rock, T.R. Griffin, Benjamin Porter and Richard Ricks Jr. Simmons, 57, died Sunday at 10 a.m. in a Franklin hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Lillie Dunlow Simmons and a son of the late Samuel Henry and Mrs. Nannie Felts Simmons. He was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and a farmer. He was a member of Clarksbury Methodist Church. Besides his widow, surviving are two daughters, Miss Christine O. Simmons and Mrs. Lucille S. Jenkins of Boykins; a son, Samuel H. Simmons of Emporia; four sisters Mrs. Lila S. Webb of Gloucester County, Miss Bettie L. Simmons of Richard, Mrs. Dona S. Jones of Fork Union, and Mrs. Eva Mae Long of Melbourne, Fla.; a brother, H. Bernard Simmons of Boykins; and eight grandchildren.
