MARY FRANCES JOHNSON SHORTT

   COURTLAND - A funeral service for Mary Frances Johnson Shortt, 78, was 
held Saturday, March 27 at 2 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Russell 
Ford and Dr. R.E. Brittle.  Burial was in Capron Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were: Jack Vick, Allan Worrell, Pope Grizzard, Marvin Everett 
and Willie Whitehead, Horne Edwards Jr., Beamon Davis and Ed Crenshaw.

   Mrs. Shortt died Wednesday, March 24 near her home.

   A native of Nansemond County, she was the widow of John Vince Shortt.  She 
was a member of Capron Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

   Survivors include a son, Maurice Shortt of Sandiego, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. 
Winston Wallace of Moorhead City, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.
