[sic; A.] Tucker, 5-year-old son of Dr. [sic; Mr.] and Mrs. David Tucker, of Newsoms, is in critical condition at Raiford Memorial Hospital suffering from a severe fracture of the skull. The boy was injured yesterday afternoon when he fell from the back of a truck being driven by his father, a farmer of the Newsoms community. According to the boy's father, he had sent a Negro employee, Frank Granger, to the peanut field to load 9 bags of peanuts in a pickup truck. Granger brought the truck to the Tucker house and parked the truck here. Tucker then sent Granger to the barn to do some other work and thought he saw the boy go with him. Unbeknownst to Tucker, however, his son climbed into the back of the truck. Tucker then drove to Newsoms, arriving there within five minutes and was then informed by an unidentified Negro man that his son had fallen from the back of the truck onto the tar and gravel road which leads from Tucker's house to Newsoms. Tucker, returning down the road, found a Mr. Williams from Courtland had picked up the boy and placed him in the back seat of his automobile. Tucker, along with his brother A.W. Tucker, Jr., got into Williams' car and brought the boy into Raiford Hospital. The boy was unconscious at the time he was brought to the hospital and is reported in critical condition. The Tuckers have three other children: Douglas 13, Steve 11, and Priscilla 9. ****************************************************************************** Injuries Fatal To Tucker Boy FRANKLIN - James R.
