TALLEY, EX-RAILWAY AGENT, DIES BURDETTE - William Arthur Talley, 74, retired railroad agent, died early Saturday in his home after several months of declining health. He was the husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Joyner Talley and a son of Daniel and Mrs. Rodie Barker Talley of Roxboro, N.C. He was agent many years for the Virginian Railway at Burdette, Southampton County. He was a member of Burdette Baptist Church and of Tuney Masonic Lodge, Windsor. Besides his widow, surviving are three sons, William Arthur Talley, Jr. of Franklin, the Rev. Joseph A. Talley of Waterbury, Conn., and Banks H. Talley of Kennett Square, Pa.; one brother, John Talley of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Ella Burch of Roxboro; and five grandchildren. The body was taken to W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, Monday at noon it was taken to Burdette Baptist Church for a funeral service at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, Jr., and the Rev. C.L. Gatling, pastor of Black Creek Baptist Church. Masonic rites were held at the grave in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. Pallbearers were Earl Parker, Meritt Raiford, Edwin Joyner, C.L. Carr, James J. Joyner and Roland Whitley.
