Robert E. Davis. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Norman Collins, Allen Jones, Hubert Atkins, William Battle, Paul Key and George Mills. Robert Taylor, 8 drowned Saturday near Poplar Spring Cemetery when he fell through thin ice covering a pond while trying to retrieve a basketball. A native of St. Mary’s Ga., he was the son of Edward S. and Mrs. Sarah Rock Taylor. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and Cub Scout Den 2, Troop 105. Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Edward S. Taylor, Jr., three sisters, Mary Kathryn Taylor, Elizabeth Ann Taylor and Joan Rock Taylor; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Taylor of Norfolk.
