Taylor, 71, a well-known farmer and business man of the Franklin community, died suddenly Monday morning on Franklin Street here as he was collecting from his rental property on that throughfare. Mr. Taylor had been suffering for 10 days with angina. He was the husband of Mrs. Varina Pate Taylor of Franklin, and son of the late B.W. and Mrs. Nellie Smith Taylor of Wilson, N.C. Mr. Taylor was a native of North Carolina, and moved to Franklin 20 years ago from LaGrange, N.C. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Rosalie Taylor Britt of Franklin; one son, Bob Pate Taylor of Ivor; four brothers, Everett Taylor of Walstonburg, N.C., Alex Taylor of Pikesville, Dalas and Mart Taylor of Snow Hill, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Newborn of Snow Hill and Mrs. Will Herring of Walstonburg, and five grandchildren. Services were held from the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. B.B. Bland of High St. Methodist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with R.F. Beale, Carroll Beale, J.S. Collier, C.C. Vaughan, III, Tommy Vaughan, Carlton Cutchin, Leigh Johnson, G.E. Pillow and L.C. Duck acting as pallbearers.
